Among the myriad records that Manning holds as he retires is an important one for his post-NFL career: According to Spotrac, a site that tracks and analyses contracts in professional sports, Peyton Manning has earned over $248 million in his 18-year career.

Manning has won a record five NFL MVP awards, and he is coming off a season in which he became the oldest quarterback to win the Super Bowl at 39 years old. In his four years with the Broncos, Manning led the team to four American Football Conference (AFC) West Division titles and four corresponding playoff appearances, culminating in a Super Bowl 50 victory.

He was cut by the Indianapolis Colts, where he had spent the first 14 years of his career, before eventually arriving in Denver the following season with few pundits predicting the spectacular renaissance that was to follow.
