Why did Mehbooba agree without 'getting anything from Centre', asks Omar

On the eve of a meeting of PDP MLAs where she is set to be elected as their leader, BJP announced its tough stand by saying it would not accept any fresh conditions from the ally. "You all are my strength", Mehbooba told the legislators during the meeting.

She also reiterated her resolve to work towards implementation of the "Agenda of Alliance" formulated with BJP.

Mehbooba is scheduled to meet Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra on Friday. Shah had told her a government can't be formed on the basis of conditions.

The alliance between the two parties had run into rough weather following the death of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as his daughter Mehbooba had sought assurances from the Centre on certain political and economic issues close to her party's agenda, including the transfer of NHPC power stations to State and "softening" of Armed Forces (Special Powers Act) in the State.

Meanwhile, BJP national vice president Ram Madhav and MoS PMO Jitendra Singh will be arriving in Jammu on Friday to hold a meeting with State party leaders and legislators, after which they will meet the Governor. The BJP follows internal democratic values.

This has formally paved way for Mehbooba Mufti to be the first woman chief minister of the new PDP-BJP coalition govt in J&K.; Later on BJP insisted that, it would not accept any new condition from PDP. He has chose to stay away from PDP's crucial meetings held in recent past.

For Mufti, the best course is to boldly assume the chief ministership and deliver on the poll promise of development, peace and people's well-being.

"Yesterday Ram Madhav gave a statement that Mehbooba ji neither asked for anything nor did she get anything".

Mehbooba represents south Kashmir's Anantnag constituency in the Lok Sabha.

The state was put under Governor's Rule and the Assembly was kept in suspended animation on January 8.

In that case, she will have to get elected to either house of the state's bicameral legislature and also resign her Lok Sabha seat.
