B'Tselem identified the man who was shot as Abed al-Fatah a-Sharif and the other as Ramzi al-Qasrawi.

Palestinian prime minister Rami al-Hamdallah said the video offered proof that Israeli soldiers "carry out field executions of Palestinians" and called for global protection of Palestinian civilians.

The database proposal, introduced by the Palestinian Authority and Arab states, also condemns Israel's settlements in the West Bank and calls on companies not to do business with them.

It shows the immediate aftermath of an attack in which an Israeli soldier was wounded by two Palestinian men.

IDF Spokesperson Moti Almoz has stated that following the incident the soldier had been detained and will remain in custody until the conclusion of the investigations being conducted by military police surrounding the shooting.

The Israeli defence minister, Moshe Yaalon, said his country would treat the shooting with "utmost severity " .

Footage filmed by a bystander moments after the attack and seen by Reuters showed one of the two assailants lying on the ground following the stabbing, barely moving.

The incident on Thursday morning is latest example Israeli-Palestinian violence which has been escalating since October.

Tensions have heightened in the occupied territories since August 2015, when Israel imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds.

Michael Lynk, who is now an associate professor at the Faculty of Law at Western University in London, Ontario, will replace Indonesian diplomat Makarim Wibisono, who announced his resignation in January, citing Israel's refusal to grant him access to the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a factor in his decision.
