Now, an even smaller creature has had dental work on his tiny teeth - a goldfish.

The brace was made inexpensively, out of material from a credit card, according to a report that aired on WPVI-TV.

This could be the world's first pair of fish braces. But Mr. Hot Wing is hardly your average goldfish. Veterinarian Brian Palmeiro carried out what is believed to be a world first after Mr Hot Wing was having problems breathing and eating.

Here's a sight you don't see everyday: a wee goldfish, with "braces".

Girl, 6, removed from California foster home
However, the Indian Child Welfare Act caused authorities to seize the child, with plans to place her with relatives in Utah. The Santa Clarita, California, foster child was removed from her birth mother's custody when she was just 17-months-old.

Thankfully, Dr. Brian Palmeiro realized that he could fix the problem by outfitting the fish with a special brace that would serve as a substitute for the missing lower jaw.

Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology, based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, reported the historic event on its Facebook page.

The surgery only cost $150, which was a major steal for a life-changing medical procedure.
