The win furthered Trump's argument that he will eventually win the Republican presidential nomination and that the party should rally around him. "They can't spend time picking at you and undermining you".

All three remaining Republican candidates have been invited to attend the black-tie dinner, according to the state party. The state's voters, he said, "are going to find themselves at the center of the political universe".
