Oscars brings in third-lowest viewership in history

Based on some early numbers (more could be released latest), the Chris Rock-hosted show on Sunday drew the lowest overall ratings that it has seen in many years.

Many celebrities decided not to attend this year's Academy Awards to make a statement about the lack of inclusiveness for people of color; however, Kerry Washington walked the red carpet beautifully and proudly attended the ceremony.

It was the actor's sixth Oscar nomination overall, following nods in previous years for What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, Blood Diamond, and The Wolf of Wall Street. While the Oscars were being handed out, the Reverend Al Sharpton held a rally outside, and a star-studded cast of African-American actors, musicians and filmmakers held a free event in Flint, Michigan.

Oscars' 10-year ratings high point came in 2014, when Ellen Degeneres hosted and it scores a 27.9 rating and 41 share.

We all enjoyed seeing how thrilled Sunday night's best actor and actress winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Brie Larson were when they stood before an audience of millions and accepted their Academy Awards.

Another big victor of the evening was George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road, which took home six awards including Best Achievement in Film Editing.
