We have not heard when exactly the series will return for a second season, but it will likely be later this year.

Netflix's weird series from Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, The OA, has been renewed for a second season.

Season 1 of The OA became a late-breaking sleeper hit at the end of past year after it quietly premiered in December, with very little fanfare or promotion from Netflix ahead of time.

It seemed that the first question was answered on 8 February 2017 via The OA's Twitter and Facebook accounts. Previously blind, she now possesses sight and odd scar markings on her back. Upon her return, she gathers a group of four teenagers and a high school teacher to talk about her experiences, then asks them to help save several other people, whom she claims are trapped in another dimension.

Marling is joined by Phyllis Smith, Jason Isaacs, Emory Cohen, Alice Krige, Scott Wilson, Brendan Meyer, and Patrick Gibson as the stars of the series. But in an interview with TheWrap following the show's debut, Batmanglij teased that he and Marling had a plan for the series to continue should it be picked up for more episodes.

We don't know much more than that at this stage, beyond the fact that it refers to the follow-up installment as "Part II" and that it's not yet confirmed for any specific release window.
