Rodgers' mother told BBC that Kaylee's music teacher at Killard House School, Lloyed Scates, is someone to thank for helping nurture her talent.

The young girl, who attends Killard House Special School in Northern Ireland, stunned the online world with a choir rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" earlier this week.

"It was really awesome how many views I got", she said.

"She'd be a very quiet little girl, but when she sings, she just opens up".

Rodgers is "very shy", Colin Millar, her school's principal, told ITV, and it was a big step for her to perform in front of a crowd.

The Facebook video was viewed 1.6 million times within five days of being posted on 18 December.

P4 means primary four, which would have made Kaylee about 8 years old when she first enrolled in the school.

Kaylee Rodgers has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in addition to being autistic. Singing has helped Kaylee build her confidence.

"I just loved doing it".

Cohen's version of the song gained acclaim when it was featured in the 2001 film Shrek and was newly discovered by many upon Cohen's death in November 2016.
