According to the CDC, the man visited Brazil from February 17 to March 9 and returned to Korea on March 11 after a layover in Germany.

"A coordinated approach continues in our attempt to minimise the impact of the virus with our vector control activities, surveillance and public awareness strategies" the health minister added.

"We are going to talk to the particular physician about the matter", said Jung Ki-suk, director of the KCDC.

"He no longer needs to be quarantined, but we will closely watch his condition and carry out a thorough examination on him", said the official.

The infected patient is now being treated in a negative pressure isolation room at Chonnam National University Hospital.
